Cloud hosting or local server?

Do you want to use cloud hosting or a local server for your POS? With AIM you can do either, here are some considerations to help you determine which is best for your business.

Cloud Server
Local Server
Your data is stored with a 3rd party. Educate yourself about how secure your data will be and the policies that are in place to ensure your peace of mind. Not all companies are equal, so be sure to ask questions and get guarantees in writing.
You store your data locally and you own it, which means you are responsible for having procedures in place for daily backups, data recovery, and network security.
Relies on a constant internet connection. Make sure you have guaranteed uptime for internet connectivity.
This does not require internet to access AIM* but if you are processing credit cards you will need internet or a method of processing without internet. Discuss options with your processor. *If you have multiple locations an internet connection is required.
Hosting companies will have different pricing, speeds & guarantees. It is important to research and find the one that best meets your needs.
You purchase the server and backup software (if any). You, an employee, or a 3rd party IT service provider will be responsible for the setup and maintenance.
Billed monthly for services used. Cloud servers can cost more over time but a reputable provider will be upgrading equipment.
Local server's cost is all upfront (unless leased). Over time a local server could be cheaper, but it will age out.
